Cultural Fascination

07 October 2024

In Italy, cultural tourism is a key pillar of the tourism industry due to the great appeal it arouses in those who wish to enjoy authentic experiences in close contact with art, culture, and the places devoted to it. This particular type of travel is further enriched by participation in the many cultural festivals organized throughout the country. When it comes to film, the timeless appeal of cinematic imagery finds its full expression in Venice. Indeed, the data show that while 44.8% of those who practice cultural tourism visit villages and cities of art in search of unique settings, led by Rome, Milan, and Venice, 15% of these travelers are looking to participate in cultural, folk, or religious manifestations, events, and festivals.* Of the vast array of cultural festivals offered in September after the summer break, the Venice Film Biennale is certainly the top event in terms of prestige and appeal.

Terrazza Cinematografica by Atlas Concorde 2024

For all those who are driven by a deep passion for this art form to participate as "special tourists" at an event such as the 81st Venice International Film Festival, one of the main aspirations is the desire to experience unique moments related to cinematic imagery where the urban setting and the spaces of the Festival itself are an integral part of this dream. For this reason, even the rooms and furnishings of an iconic building like the Excelsior Hotel on the Venice Lido play a part in this out-of-the-ordinary and deeply authentic experience.

The Terrazza Cinematografica staged from August 28 to September 7 by Atlas Concorde in partnership with Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo for the fourth year in a row fits well into this trend for the creation of a container of experience where the many values that define the Cultural Fascination trend come together. First, the search for a mesmerizing ambiance that links the past and present starting with the space itself, the splendid Hotel Excelsior that hosts the Terrazza Cinematografica, contributing a modernity of style and design in perfect continuity with the surroundings. Indeed, the elegant retro allure of the hotel is complemented by the refinement and simplicity of the furniture made by Atlas Plan for the event, starting with the central counter that captures visitors’ attention like a dark monolith, the social fulcrum of the terrace. Other values include beauty, creativity, and uniqueness, virtues associated with the cinematic imagination and the privilege of playing an active part of the history of this film festival, and that mingle on the terrace with the most important key players of the seventh art. And let us not forget cultural dynamism, transforming the terrace into a cultural space during the festival complete with events organized by Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo.

The "props" of the Atlas Concorde Terrazza Cinematografica

Like a movie set that evokes a cozy space with an allure of great sophistication for conversing with others while enjoying hors d’oeuvres or drinks at cocktail hour or at other times of the day, the terrace was embellished by the staging of Atlas Plan and event partners. All the elements work together to transport guests to a relaxed social dimension, intrigued by the possibility of meeting one of their favorite film legends at the film festival.

  • The central counter was made using Atlas Plan's large porcelain slabs.

  • The Cosmopolitan and Manhattan tables were made using the Boost Balance Ash collection by Atlas Concorde Habitat.

  • Seats, sofas, and coffee tables by Living divani, Atlas Concorde's technical partner, further enriched the hotel terrace. Others include two icons by architect Piero Lissoni, the modular Extrasoft sofa and Tombolo seat, and the Rivulet chairs by Junpei & Iori Tamaki. And finally, the Jelly and Ile tables in the variant with Atlas Plan porcelain tops, and the Kasumi armchair designed by Mist-o.

  • An outdoor kitchen by Modulnova, technical partner of Atlas Concorde.

  • Completing the terrace decor was the Come Together lamp designed by Cartlotta Bevilacqua, president and CEO of the Artemide Group, for interesting chiaroscuro effects.

Once again this year, Atlas Concorde Customers and Partners were welcomed by the Atlas Concorde Terrazza Cinematografica to share unforgettable moments. Arriving at the Excelsior Hotel after crossing the magnificent lagoon, they were enveloped in the magical, exciting ambiance of the festival on the terrace at dusk, where business and relaxation were expertly blended. In fact the scheduled presentations were complemented by the excitement of meeting special guests.
