Just a few kilometres from Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, stands the Prishtina Mall, one of the largest and most innovative shopping centres in South East Europe. The project was realised by the renowned US architecture firm Laguarda Low Architects, recent winner of ‘The American Architecture Award 2024’. With 20 years of expertise in retail design, they design indoor and outdoor retail spaces with the aim of creating exciting experiences. The mall presents itself as a true icon that harmoniously blends nature and architecture, inspired by the evocative Balkan landscapes. In the encounter between functionality and aesthetics, the ventilated porcelain stoneware façades stand out. The designers of the Prishtina Mall chose to use ceramic surfaces in 120x178 size from the Boost and Lims collections by Atlas Concorde selected for their ability to enhance the aesthetics of the building and guarantee perfect harmony with the surrounding environment.

Prishtina Mall Redefines Retail Design with a Fusion of Nature and Modernity

The concrete-effect surfaces of the Boost collection give a modern, urban elegance, ideal for emphasising the contemporary character of the structure. In contrast, the stone effect slabs of the Lims collection, with shades inspired by limestone, evoke the natural landscapes of Kosovo, recalling forests, rivers and plateaus. This aesthetic balance provides visual continuity between the mall and the land, making the Prishtina Mall an example of landscape integration.
The ventilated porcelain stoneware façades are not limited to aesthetics: they are able to remain unaltered over time and offer high thermal and technical performance, contributing to energy efficiency that makes the Prishtina Mall a benchmark in terms of sustainability and functionality.
The result is a project that balances aesthetics and performance, transforming the façades of the Prishtina Mall into a distinctive architectural element that embodies the excellence of design and the versatility of porcelain stoneware.
Atlas Concorde's intervention for the Prishtina Mall demonstrates how porcelain stoneware surfaces can be transformed into an architectural element that combines design and functionality, ensuring aesthetics and high technical performance.
