Atlas Concorde pack system unveils its circularity rate

Atlas Concorde strengthens its commitment to environmental sustainability with the launch of Atlas Concorde Pack, a packaging system designed in accordance with the principles of the circular economy. To evaluate and enhance the circularity of this innovative solution, the company relied on the CircularTool, validated by Bureau Veritas and developed by Matrec Srl.

The CircularTool utilizes a methodology based on the analysis of resource flows in inputs and outputs, enabling a precise assessment of the materials used and their environmental impact. This data-driven approach guides the design process toward a more circular and sustainable model.

According to the report findings, the input analysis shows the new introduction of content derived from renewable sources (material derived from resources naturally replenished) for an amount of 79% of the total. Additionally, certified material (material with third-party environmental certification) has significantly increased by +95pp.

On the output side, the analysis shows that at the end of the Atlas Concorde Pack’s life cycle, the recycle rate (material diverted from waste and returned as raw materials or products), has almost doubled to 60%. As a result, the amount of material sent for energy recovery and to landfill has decreased. These changes have also ensured that the packaging remains 99% disassemblable, making it easy to separate into its constituent materials.

Circularity measurement indicators comply with ISO 14021, and the end-of-life scenario is based on Eurostat EU 27 – 2022 data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with international guidelines.

In addition to these achievements, the new packaging system has also reduced the overall packaging weight per transportation unit by 11%, while increasing the capacity of transported slabs from 7 to 10. This translates into a 37% reduction in packaging weight per slab.
