Innovation in the kitchen: Atlas Plan | Modulnova Meeting Together

25 July 2024

The motto "home sweet home" is increasingly proving to be true for Italians. This is confirmed by recent studies* that point to a continued interest in investing in homes. In fact, 79% of respondents are homeowners and an additional 15% plan to buy one in the near future. Above all, the home is seen as a multifunctional place for sharing happy moments with family and friends. In this context the role of a kitchen that corresponds to one's dreams is deemed to be crucial by at least 37% of Italians surveyed. Indeed, it is increasingly seen as a place to spend pleasant, relaxing time and as a hygienic, functional stage for safely showing off one's culinary skills.

This is the idea underlying the collaboration between Atlas Plan and the Modulnova brand based in the Friuli region, which designs and manufactures contemporary kitchens, living rooms and bathrooms, a partnership that recently launched the Atlas Plan | Modulnova Meeting Together project, which reflects a very current esthetic trend for designers and consumers, namely drawing creative inspiration from natural materials and the related innovation of components that make up a kitchen, especially countertops. In fact, the project features two new Atlas Plan surfaces dedicated to Modulnova: Appennino and Silver Root.

The Appennino porcelain slabs with red-gold veins on a background of grays are inspired by Turkish marble, reproducing its essence with a very high degree of realism and fidelity. The elegance of these slabs goes well with different types of indoor and outdoor applications, from wall tiles to countertops.

The Silver Root porcelain slabs, on the other hand, evoke the allure of marble from Turkey's famous quarries: a warm gray field and veining with deep gray to golden hues that stand out, creating an ambiance of remarkable sophistication. Ideal for both residential and commercial settings.

It is therefore a project with the mission to develop synergistic actions, starting with the inclusion of Atlas Plan slabs in Modulnova kitchen systems such asin the “Tavolo Caldo” kitchen presented during Milan Design Week 2024 or inside the Atlas Concorde Park Studio showroom at the Atlas Concorde headquarters. Finally, the stone effect of Atlas Plan's Boost Mineral Grey slabs is found in the Skill Gres Kitchen System, while the refinement of Boost Balance Ash's concrete-effect slabs embellishes the Outdoor Kitchen System. Moreover, Atlas Plan's Precious Brown slabs clad the island in the Fly Gres kitchen.

The choice of porcelain tiles for kitchen countertops

While ease of cleaning and maintenance is their best-known trait, it’s certainly not the only one. In fact, porcelain tiles have a number of specific characteristics that make them particularly interesting and well-suited for use on kitchen counters and table tops.

Compactness

Porcelain tiles have compact, nonporous surfaces. This trait offers a wide range of great benefits for safe contact with food:

  • Hygiene, becausethe slabs areimpermeable to toxic or irritating substances, contain no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and are free of formaldehyde and PVC.

  • Non-flammable, because they don’t burn or emit toxic substances.

Durability

Porcelain tiles are extremely durable, and high scratch resistance is crucial when it comes to the daily use of kitchen countertops. both in domestic and horeca settings.

Physical-chemical stability

The chemical-physical stability of porcelain tiles makes them resistant to chemicals and color alteration, not to mention UV rays and stains.

Esthetic value

Technological innovation for functional evolution is constant, serving the development of design, creativity and esthetic versatility: any kind of color, texture, decoration or material effect can be reproduced.

Sustainable spirit

The guarantee of a long life and recyclability with the advantage of production with zero waste make porcelain tiles a sustainable material with minimal environmental impact.
